Lagonda 3-Litre History

The 3-Litre succeeded the 2.6-Litre in 1953, boring the W. O. Bentley straight-six out to 2,922 cc for more relaxed high-speed cruising. The chassis and body were largely carried over from the 2.6-Litre with detail refinements; the car continued Lagonda's role as the dignified, upmarket counterpart to the sporting Aston Martins built alongside it at Newport Pagnell.

Around 270 were produced through 1958, after which the Newport Pagnell factory's capacity was overwhelmed by demand for the DB-series sports cars and Lagonda production was suspended. The name would not return as a complete car for another three years.
