GTA Motor GTA Spano History

Development of the GTA Spano began around 2004 inside GTA Motor Competición, the Valencia racing team founded by Domingo Ochoa in 1994. After five years of engineering work, the prototype was unveiled on 29 April 2009 at L'Hemisfèric in Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences to a select audience; it made its public debut at the 2010 Top Marques Monaco show. The pre-production car used an 8.3-litre supercharged Dodge Viper V10 producing 780 PS (574 kW), mounted in a monocoque chassis of carbon fibre reinforced with titanium and Kevlar — a construction more closely related to a racing car than any other Spanish road vehicle.

The production version of the GTA Spano was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It retained the Viper-sourced V10 but enlarged to 8.4 litres and fitted with twin turbochargers, raising output to 900 PS (662 kW) and 1,000 N·m of torque; claimed 0–97 km/h acceleration stood at 2.9 seconds and top speed at 350 km/h. Only 99 units were planned. The first-generation car featured swan doors and a carbon structure that weighed just 1,350 kg despite its size.

At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show Spania GTA introduced a substantially revised second generation: the V10 was revised to 8.0 litres with twin turbos producing 925 PS (680 kW) and 1,220 N·m; butterfly doors replaced the first car's swan doors; and the monocoque incorporated graphene-reinforced panels — one of the first production cars to do so. Top speed climbed to 370 km/h. Despite the ambition, actual production remained extremely limited, with estimates suggesting only around a dozen cars (roughly 12; sources vary) were completed across both generations — of which just a couple were second-generation cars — before the company's activity wound down around 2018.
