History
Resuming civilian production after WWI, Diatto leveraged its existing Bugatti manufacturing relationship — it had built Bugatti aero-engines during the conflict — to introduce the Tipo 30 in 1919: a Bugatti Brescia (Type 22 / Type 23) built under licence. The engine was a four-valve-per-cylinder 1,452 cc four producing around 30 bhp, later increased to 2 litres.
The Tipo 30 made an immediate impression when a Diatto-entered car took first prize in the first Italian motor race held after the armistice. Production was limited and overlapped with the transition to Diatto's own-design Tipo 20 in 1922, at which point the Bugatti-licensed car was phased out.
