History
The S-10 Blazer launched for 1983 as a compact SUV based on the S-10 pickup, a smaller alternative to the full-size K5; a four-door arrived in 1991 to ride the SUV boom.
It was a high-volume player against the Ford Explorer through the 1990s. The name was shortened to simply 'Blazer' in the late 1990s; US production ended in 2005. (Slug `s10-blazer` distinguishes it from the K5 and the modern crossover.)
