- This page records the U.S. 1956 factory powertrain and body-style range rather than borrowing a nearby model year's specification.
- In his May 1956 Auto Age engineering account, Zora Arkus-Duntov explained that the optional camshaft commonly called high lift actually used less lift than the regular Corvette camshaft. Its design increased effective flow area, extended the upper power range and improved valve-gear behavior at high speed. The inspected passages do not identify an RPO number or certify a 240-hp rating; they cannot establish RPO 449 gearbox restrictions or a production cutoff.
- Duntov's chassis discussion distinguishes highway use from racing: production brakes were unchanged, while suspension development targeted high-speed stability, steering response and traction. These development aims do not establish an additional orderable brake package or racing configuration.
