History
The Corvair (1960–1969) was a radical departure for an American car: a rear-mounted, air-cooled flat-six in a compact body, unlike anything else in Chevrolet's lineup.
Its swing-axle handling was central to Ralph Nader's 1965 book 'Unsafe at Any Speed', which damaged its reputation even though the redesigned 1965 cars handled well. The turbocharged Monza Spyder and Corsa were genuine performers. Production ended in 1969.
