Revealed around 2010 as a joint project with Lola Cars, the SP/300.R was a track-only, two-seat sports prototype far removed from the road-going Seven. Rather than Caterham's familiar tubular spaceframe, it used a Lola-derived aluminium monocoque with removable aerobody panels, a front splitter, and a rear diffuser — genuine sports-car-racing architecture for private customers.
Power came from a supercharged 2.0-litre Ford Duratec producing approximately 300 bhp, driving through a Hewland sequential paddle-shift gearbox. With an all-up weight target below 600 kg the car was quoted at 0–60 mph in under three seconds. Production was limited to a small annual allocation for track-day and club-racing use, anchored by a dedicated one-make championship that began in 2012; the project wound down over the following years as partner Lola Cars collapsed (sources vary; exact production end year is not firmly documented, generally cited around 2014).
