Announced in August 1965 (with volume production beginning in summer 1966), the Bond 875 was a modern three-wheeler that broke from the Minicar's Villiers two-stroke tradition: it used the 875 cc four-cylinder four-stroke engine from the Hillman Imp (in lower-compression Commer Imp Van tune, producing 34 bhp), together with the Imp's gearbox, rear suspension, and rear wheels mounted at the rear of a fibreglass body. The aluminium-doored body weighed under 400 kg, making it genuinely quick for its class.
A van version called the Ranger was offered from 1967. Reliant's acquisition of Bond Cars in February 1969 left the 875 in limbo alongside the Equipe, and both were phased out as production wound down at Preston. The 875 was discontinued in February 1970, with approximately 3,441 units built across its five-year run.
