Bolwell Mk VII History

Introduced in 1967, the Mk VII used a steel backbone chassis and six-cylinder Holden components in a more refined fibreglass coupe body. It was offered both as a kit and in fully built form, and later kits were produced by Kadala Cars under licence.

Around 400 to 450 examples received registration plates, a figure that — by official count — made Bolwell the fifth-largest vehicle manufacturer in Australia at the time. The Mk VII is the model that established Bolwell's reputation beyond the kit-car fringe.

Production wound down around 1971–1972 as Bolwell shifted engineering resources toward the more ambitious, fully factory-built Nagari.
