History

The T-Series (T1, 1965–1977; T2, 1977–1980) was the Bentley counterpart to the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and marked a major engineering leap: Bentley's first car with monocoque (unitary) construction rather than a separate chassis, plus independent rear suspension and disc brakes.

By this period Bentley and Rolls-Royce models were all but indistinguishable beyond the grille, and Bentley sales had dwindled to a tiny fraction of the combined company's output. The T-Series years were the marque's quietest — the low point that the Vickers-era Mulsanne Turbo and Turbo R would soon reverse.
