Bentley Bentayga History
History
The Bentayga, revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show with production starting that November, was Bentley's first SUV — and only the second body style the brand had ever truly branched into beyond grand saloons and coupés. Previewed by the 2012 EXP 9 F concept, it used the VW Group MLB platform shared with the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, and Lamborghini Urus.
It launched with the 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 and was billed as the world's fastest production SUV, later gaining V8, plug-in-hybrid, and (in some markets) a diesel option. The Bentayga rapidly became Bentley's best-selling model, broadening the brand far beyond its traditional two- and four-door cars.
