Armstrong Siddeley Typhoon History

Added in 1946, the Typhoon was the fixed-head coupé in Armstrong Siddeley's post-war trio, sharing the Lancaster's platform and running gear in a closed two-door body. Named for the Hawker Typhoon fighter-bomber, it sat between the four-door Lancaster and the open Hurricane, offering the looks of a sporting closed coupé.

The Typhoon used the same 16 hp 1,991 cc six-cylinder engine as its siblings, updated to 2,309 cc from 1949. It sold in much smaller numbers than the Lancaster or Hurricane and was discontinued around 1950, making it the rarest of the mainstream early post-war Armstrong Siddeleys.
