History

The CityRover was a city car launched in 2003 — a rebadged Tata Indica built in India by Tata Motors and imported to fill the small-car gap left by the discontinued Rover 100. It gave MG Rover an entry-level model without the cost of developing one.

It was poorly received, criticised for being expensive relative to its budget origins and for build quality, and it sold slowly before ending with MG Rover's 2005 administration.
