History

Debuted at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and going on sale in Europe in 2015, the 500X is a subcompact four-wheel-drive crossover that pairs 500-family styling with a practical raised-ride-height body. Mechanically it shares its platform with the Jeep Renegade, both built at the Melfi plant in southern Italy.

The 500X reached the US for the 2016 model year and became Fiat's most important American model by volume as the standard 500 hatchback declined. Fiat announced the 500X would be discontinued for North America after the current generation, with the last North American units rolling off the line in December 2023.
