History

Introduced in 2012, the 500L extended the 500 brand into a practical five-door, five-seat compact MPV. Substantially larger than the 500 hatchback, it used 500-family styling cues — the rounded headlights, arched roof line — on a fully upright, family-friendly body with a high roofline and generous interior space.

The 500L reached the US market for the 2014 model year, offering an affordable Italian-flavoured alternative to compact crossovers, but it never found a strong US audience. FCA discontinued the 500L for the US after the 2020 model year; European production ended in 2022.
