Equus Automotive Throwback History

Introduced in 2017 and unveiled publicly in early 2018, the Throwback was Equus Automotive's second model — a heavily reworked Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that layered classic 1960s Corvette design cues onto a modern C7 platform. The split rear window referenced the iconic 1963 Sting Ray split-window coupe; the side coves echoed late first-generation Corvettes; and the taillights paid homage to C3 styling. The interior retained the C7 Stingray's architecture but was retrimmed in Alcantara with diamond-quilted seats and engine-turned aluminium accents.

The Throwback was offered in two performance states: a base variant powered by the same supercharged 6.2-litre V8 producing 640 hp, and an uprated 1,000-hp version achieved through additional forced-induction modifications, which Equus claimed was capable of 0–60 mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed above 220 mph. Pricing started at approximately $130,000, well below the Bass770 and reflecting the Corvette donor platform. Equus planned a total run of just 25 built-to-order units, keeping the Throwback among the most exclusive American automobiles of its era.
