The E90/E92/E93 335i introduced the turbocharged N54 inline-six to the 3 Series (the first turbo-petrol 3 Series), later the N55. A benchmark for accessible straight-six turbo performance.

The F30 335i continued the turbo-six theme until BMW renamed the equivalent car 340i for 2016 with the new B58 engine.
