The car that made the 3 Series an icon. Added a four-door sedan, a convertible, and the Touring wagon, and — most famously — spawned the original E30 M3 homologation special for 1988 (US). US E30s ran model years 1984–1991.

The 1985 model year

Overview

BMW broadened the U.S. E30 range for 1985 by adding four-door versions of both the 318i and 325e alongside the existing two-door cars. The 318i retained its 101-hp 1.8-liter fuel-injected four; the 325e used the 121-hp, 170-lb-ft 2.7-liter eta six. BMW listed a five-speed manual as standard and a four-speed automatic as optional for both engines.
