The 2006 model year

Overview

For 2006 Volkswagen revived the 'Rabbit' name on the US fifth-generation (Mk5) hatchback. The Mk5 brought a much stiffer body and a sophisticated independent rear suspension, sharpening the car's handling, and the returning turbocharged GTI restored the hot-hatch's reputation after softer earlier cars. The 'Rabbit' name lasted only this generation before 'Golf' returned. // Source: Wikipedia "Volkswagen Golf Mk5" — US Rabbit MY2006–2009 ('Golf' returned with the Mk6 for 2010).
