The third-generation A70 (US 1986–1992) was the first Supra to break away from the Celica into a standalone model. Offered with a turbocharged 7M-GTE inline-six, it set the template the A80 perfected. The final US A70 was a 1992 model; the A80 took over for 1993 (no 1993 A70 in North America).
