The first-generation Firebird (1967–1969) launched Pontiac's pony car on GM's F-body platform as a more upscale companion to the Chevrolet Camaro, in coupe and convertible forms. The Trans Am performance package debuted on this generation for 1969, making the first-year Trans Ams the rarest of all.
