The fifth-generation Z (chassis Z33) revived the nameplate for 2003 as the 350Z, a back-to-basics front-mid-engine sports car on Nissan's FM platform with the 3.5L VQ35 V6. After a six-year US absence it re-established the affordable-Z formula and was a strong sales success.
